I'm going to Dave and Busters for my 18th birthday and I saw a prize there that I want for 5,000 points/tickets.

I don't know how much the powercards are.

How much would it cost me to come up with 5,000 points/tickets.

  1. The powercards are pretty-much whatever amount you want to put on them (basicially like a pre-paid debit card). The exception is their lunch combo which (IIRC) is something like $15 for lunch and a $10 powercard. As to what it would take to get 5000 tickets, that depends on your skill at the games. A typical play would probably run you 5-7 credits off your card and would probably win a minimum of 10-20 tickets - possibly hundreds with a really good score.

  2. I'm a long-time Dave and Busters player.  I found you typically win between 350-450 tickets for every $20-25 you spend on redemption games (those games that issue tickets).  However, this will vary greatly depending on what games you choose to play and how good you are at the game.  A lot of it is luck.

If you're going to Dave & Busters to buy prizes via tickets then you're going to pay a lot more money than you would going to a retail store to purchase the same item.  For example, I spent $110 at Dave & Busters and won enough tickets to get a $20 rice cooker.  I spent about $100 and won enough tickets for a $15 blender.  It will typically cost you about 5 to 6 times more than the actual value of the prize.

The point of going to Dave & Busters is to enjoy the your spare time playing games and having a drink or two.  The prizes are secondary. If the prizes are the sole reason you're going then I think you should get your brain examined.
