  1. Call your local Agricultural Agent for advice. Also try an equine vet and ask whoever answers the phone for advice.

  2. No. Calif. $250...(as of 1 year ago, bound to be more now!)

The carcass goes to a rendering plant...yuk!

  3. I heard it was around $400. But I'm not 100% sure about that.

  4. I've heard it's anywhere between $125-150 depending on where you live. It might have gone up though due to gasoline prices.

  5. Well, first off, it depends on WHAT STATE you live in and your local ORDINANCES. In FL, we have to bury the animal on our property. Normally we can receive help from a local farmer with a tractor or sometimes, you can call the septic companies and they will come out for a small fee to dig a hole. Just remember, if you bury on your property... bury it a MINIMUM of 6 feet deep and pack the hole good after burial. I wish you luck. OH, also check at your local COOP for people that might help. Do not let it stay un buried in your yard too long or it will not only cause health issues (you could be cited by the city/county) but, when you go to move or bury, parts can start falling off. I hope this helps.

  6. Most areas about $150.00. They are used for fertilizer  or are rendered. If put down by a vet, because of the drugs that have to be used they are not allowed for food consumption. There are some states that have animal crematories that will take a horse and cremate them but at a much higher cost.

  7. Here in the Phoenix AZ area $150 so I'm told!

  8. Here its 150 and what they do i dont know...

  9. It varies greatly depending on where you live. Most area it is around $150 but may have went up due the the cost of gasoline.

In many areas there are places like animal refuge's, wolf parks ect that will actually come pick them up for free as long as they were not PTS by vet injected drugs. If the drugs were used they can only be cremated, can not be consumed by other animals or buried as it can corrupt the ground water.

My best advice is to call your local veterinarian office, they'll already know the procedure needed in your case and will be able to get you in contact with whomever you need in your situation, whether it be the renderer, animal park or whatever.

  10. In my area, you can call a local company that hauls away dead stock since it is illegal to bury them in our city.  They take them to a remote place in North Texas.  You also have the option of purchasing a marker for the grave.  It cost me $50 - $100 to do this.

  11. Hello,

We used a service like this several times in the past.  It was $125 for them to come and haul off the carcass.  They took them to a rendering plant.

Hopefully not for meat, since ours were all put down by the vet (OLD age about 5 over the coarse of 3 years) with drugs injected.

  12. i would do like the old farmers do- take old tires pile them on and light a fire.  idk how that would work out because of around us were in a drought and theres a burn ban HMMM  but thats what i would do. when my horse passes it that or a burial.

  13. My friend's horse was just put down on Tuesday.  She paid $125 or $150 to have the horse removed from the property and $25 for the diagnostic center acceptance fee.  The diagnostics center will determine if the horse will be used for vet studies or simply cremated.

  14. About $4 for a gallon of gas and $0.25 for a pack of matches
