How much does it cost to get a dive tank and regulator certified?

Someone gave me a set. It's older and I'm told they work just fine, but needs to be certified professionally.

  1. It depends on the most recent date you see punched on the sticker on the tank. If it requires a visual inspection ( once a year) it's usually only 20-30 bucks. If it requires both a visual as well as a hydro test, that can get up to 40-50 bucks at most dive shops.

    If you do regular business with the local dive shop, some will inspect the regs free of charge, if not, then it's reasonable to expect them to charge you 20-50 bucks for an inspection and basic cleaning. If you need parts...more.

    Prices vary widely from shop to shop and how much business you do with that shop. Myself, I never pay for air fills, minor parts or inspections, just for hydros because I do a large volume of business with my LDS.
