  1. Figure about $600 to have one installed. Buying a quality unit yourself will run $300.

Electrical water heaters have long calrod heaters inserted into them. It is possible that one of the two in yoru heater has burned out. You might be able to replace the elements and get a few more years out of your heater, but I would not do this for my home. Newer heaters are more efficient and old heaters end up springing leaks at some point.

To get the water out of your existing heater, attach a hose to the heaters drain valve (near the floor) and run the water into a nearby floor drain.

  2. I would first want to know how old the tank is cuz if it is over 10 years it will need replacing anyway the bottom is full of crud and it may start leaking sooner or later,to save money find a friend/handyman it is not that hard to change the tank have the new tank delivered and ask them to despose of the old one but before we condem the old tank you will need to make sure your power is coming to it ok maybe the circuit tripped for some other reason. to check power you need a multimeter or test light and the knowledge to use it or get someone who does

  3. If the only problem is that it's not heating water the element is bad and needs replace it's possible it has 2 elements. If it's leaking it needs to be replaced.

  4. You obviously lack the technicial skills needed to repair the problem, therefore I strongly sujest you call a repairman before you get eloctrocuted. Look in the yellow pages under PLUMBER and let someone solve the problem for you SAFETLY. It should not cost a lot to replace the element(s). Good Luck!!!

  5. The element can easily be changed on it to buy you a few more years for little money.

You will change it yourself though.Siphon the water to a sink or bath tub.Get a couple of male friends to move it out.Buy a new one at Lowes or Home Depot, put it in place, and plug her in.It's really not challanging that you will have to hire out.
