To operate a business out of your garage, make sure that the garage as well as the main house is zoned for business purposes not merely as a residence.  Again, you cannot operate any commercial business from out of a residence or any attached garage thereto.  If everything else is in place, you can sell anything out of your business garage by holding a California Board of Equalization Resale License to cover any sales taxes accrued to items sold.
