How much does it cost to get clubs fitted?

I just got a set of clubs as a present which are 1/2 inch longer and 2 degrees upright. I'm pretty sure the 2 degrees upright is incorrect.. Does anyone know how much club fittings should be? Also how much would it cost to change the lie angle?

  1. You can go to a golftec, and get fitted for just 50 bucks. They will fit you for woods, irons, wedges, shaft flexes, just about anything. Its pretty cheap, and they will recommend a set for you. If you are thinking of investing a good chunk of money in your clubs, I recommend getting fit for them. And, golftec posts your data online, so that you can review it whenever you need it.

  2. If you got a Callaway, Taylormade, Cobra, Titliest or Mizuno, you are probably better off returning to the shop and replacing it with the right club for you.  Chances are they will replace it free of charge.  This will save you time and money.  Even if it's one of the   lower cost model, you are probably still better off trading it in for a new one that fit you perfectly.  Any additional cost may still be cheaper than the cost of refitting the entire set.

  3. if they are forged $50 to bend all 9,regrips are 10to 15 a club

if they are cast ,don't bend them, can be risky, but you can also get away with it[1 or 2 degrees max]on some makes

if you slice don't fix the 2 upright promotes a closed face

if you hook, you have to fix them,it would be h**l.

the 1/2 long doesn't mean nut-tin,choke up 1/2 a finger width,it would probably help counter weight the club nicely.

  4. Mike is right. 50 to 150 if they have to cut the shafts an bend the irons. Ask before the work actually begins. My local shops charge 25$ for the fit unless you are buying the clubs from them.  Some shops charge you extra if you want to save the grips. if the have to cut its around 5 a stick plus the price of new grips plus 2 to 3$ install.  Well worth it if you are trying to score well.

  5. First, make sure the 2* up, and 1/2’ long is right.

Take them to golfsmith, or any pro-shop, they can tell you very quickly. Cost $0.

To get standard length just cut the grip off, trim the shaft and re-grip, easy. Grips are $2-$8 each, soap and water grip tape is $3-$5.

Lie adjustment may or may not be needed. You need lie tape and an impact board. Most pro-shops can adjust a lie and loft for $2-$4 per club, less if you’re doing a full set.

To be fit by a pro will cost at least $50, to have a shop do the work for you, length, lie, grips it could be $150+
