Price depends on what type of hair extension you want to get, the amount of hair you need, the length you want, the look you want to achieve.

If you want body on average, the price starts at $400 and up.

If you want length added, price starts at $1000 and up.

A top of the line method like Great Lengths, HairDreams, or Remylinks, will cost more than others.  Body tends to start at $800 and Lengths at $1400.

The hair is expensive, so hence the added costs.
