  1. It depends on which program you choose. You can also buy many books used. We always bought our books at the NCHE Book Fair in Winston Salem, NC.

Check out North Carolinians for Home Education.

  2. Depends on what program you go on.

  3. $2.35 plus tax

  4. It costs as much or as little as you want to pay.

  5. The cost of homeschooling depends upon which curriculum/homeschooling program you choose.  The cost can range from almost nothing to over $1,000 a year.

Some people create their own curriculum according to their state's education standards.  If you are interested in doing this the link to your state standards is below:

Other homeschoolers use only library books, books from the thrift store, etc.  Also, there are some school districts that will allow you to borrow books in order to homeschool.  You can find out if the school district in your area does this.  This option is offered in my school district in Illinois, although I do not take advantage of it.  (I prefer to use my own curriculum.)

If cost is a factor, there are many sources for used homeschool curriculum; just google "used homeschool curriculum" and you will find many websites for used curricula.

I own/moderate an online resource/support group that has many links for for free/low cost homeschooling resources.  Although it is a Christian group, most of the resources can be used by any homeschooler--Christian or secular; the link is below:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/christianh...

There is also an organization, The Book Samaritan, that offers free used curriculum to homeschoolers; please click on the link below:

I hope the above information is helpful.

  6. It really depends; there are folks that do it for free, and there are people who spend $1,000 or more per year.  It all depends on what program you use, where you get your curriculum, and how much time you want to spend at the library.  :-)

  7. It's basically free. The only costs are really your materials like books, etc....

  8. Homeschooling is free. You make up your own assignments, and get your books/lessons from the internet or library, and do all the work yourself. That is what homeschooling is all about. For more information about homeschooling and how to start, see the links below.

Many schools have a free optional program that allows the students to go to school one or two days a week to get their assignments and take tests. The school provides all the materials. For information about the public school home study program, call (336) 370-8100 and ask what program is available for home study, or visit the website below.

  9. That would depend on what kind of program you wanted to put together.  You can homeschool almost completely free using the library and free on-line resources, or you could spend from a couple of hundred to a few thousand each year on commercial curriculum.  The choice is yours.
