Is it very profitable selling Mary Kay? It seems people start out thinking it will be great but it ends up being a lot harder than they thought. How much money does it take to get started?

  1. I agree with the last answer.  Most of these price quotes are off.

The starter kit is $100.  I had to pay $8.95 shipping and handling (plus tax if your state has it).

It comes with everything you need to start doing free facials/classes.  Like at least enough product for a minimum of 30 faces for each bottle.

There IS a deal if you sign up under a current consultant--you get $100 back (so it's basically like starting for free).  But the catch is you have to have a "starter inventory" of $600.

I'll tell you most people get freaked out when anyone mentions buying any large amount of anything...but I can tell you that I purchased the full store ($3600) in June by credit card, and am doing very well paying it off (there is a card for 0% apr for 6 months).  So $600 would be nothing to me.

The biggest thing to think about is, are you ready to put in the work???  Many people are just sold on doing Mary Kay when they hear how much you can make, but it really does take some effort.  ...and sometimes not so much effort too (like i had a friend come up to me and ask to buy some products--i had only given her one facial).

And there are groups of lovely women ALL OVER the U.S. and other countries as well that are support groups and meet weekly.

The leaders of Mary Kay work hard to give new consultants the best support--I love mine!

And there are no territories, so if you want to sell product to your cousin in another state--no problem!  You're free to.  You can even become a consultant through someone far away, and they have "adoptee programs" for consultants like that too!

So if you do think you'd like to become a consultant or have more questions, you can check out my website www.marykay.com/jenrobinson406 and email me too through that site.

I would LOVE if you wanted to be one of my recruits!!!  I would definitely lead you on the right path.

  2. For the started kit it is $150. You get a the cleansers, moisturizers, day and night solution. And a few things of makeup. I use to sell it but had a bad experience with my rep. If you want to keep items on hand then it can get a little pricey. My rep tried to talk me into making a $2000 investment and having everything on hand. I know from personal experience as long as you have a sample of most of the skincare products and some of the popular makeup items they won't mind waiting for it. Just don't let anyone talk you into something you'll regret. The skincare is really good. I still use the cleansers and moisturizers. Also the micro dermabrasion works well.

  3. Actually all of these answers are a little off......the start up kit is $100 plus $17 dollars of shipping and handling and during this month (August) there is a new consultant deal running. I hate to put all of this on here because I am going to leave something out....I just started my Mary Kay business after looking into a ton of other ones and Mary kay was one I didn't consider and I have no idea why now after two weeks of research on Mary kay....shoot me an email and I will get some information to you faith72903@yahoo.com!! Good luck in whatever you decide!!

  4. In USA it is $100 to get the starter kit which has $323 of full size products.  We are also running a promotion in the month of Aug where you can get your $100 back ask your consultant for the details she should also be able to provide you a sheet which shows you everything in the kit and explains how it works.  As of hard well without going on a tantrum let me say briefly hard for me was getting up at 5 am to get myself and my 2 year old ready for work to get her to day care to fight the traffic to get 42 miles one way to a job which I didn't like very much to rush home to avoid a late fee from daycare then to make dinner get ready for bed and start all over again so to answer your question more directly it really by is all a point of view based on your personal situation.

It is not get rich quick you need to market yourself and do the work but if you do the opportunity is endless I love everything about it.  As for inventory that is a personal decision as well so get the facts and decide based on what is right for you do you want a business with a full store or do you want to be an order taker either will work as long as your customers know what to expect.

In addition there will be some office expense you need to decide how much you wnat to invest some start with nothing but the starter kit some a small investment and other a full store think about it if you were opening a busienss you would need to rent the space buy the merchindise and so on so what is your goal.

Meet with the director and make sure she will be supportive and provide training

Sorry Heather 17 S& H that is not correct it is 8.95 as stated on the beauty consultant agreement trust me I am a Future Director I have done this many times and I know for sure that is correct plus locate tax perhaps that is where you are coming up with the extra amount.

  5. mary kay is very expensive to start out with but becoming a meetmark representative only cost $10 to start and $40 for your starter kit our company is rapidly expanding it is easy to sell.  if your interested go to my website at asessums.mymarkstore.com
