  1. Check out the Egyptian Air website...and try to get someone to buy the ticket for you inside egypt and then pay them when you get here... because the price for Egyptians is cheaper for everything concerning Egypt. I flew on egypt air for about 600 $US..it was a one way ticket though. you can get a return ticket when you get here. I decided to stay. Hotels will be exspensive.. again...try to get someone to make the reservation for you. Food and Hotels wil be the most exspensive....by the way are you getting married here? I saw your other question. Be careful please....

  2. Generally prices in Egypt is not too expensive for a traveller however... BEWARE if you are not egyptian they will raise the prices dramatically soo you have to be sure, (depending on where you go and what your purchasing) 2 bargain with them ;)

  3. I went on an all inclusive tour and it was great.  I think we paid about 1500 to 2000 but it depends how long you stay and where you are departing from.  I loved it.  We stayed at Club Med which is the old Palace of King Faruk and it was right in the central part of Cairo.  So much to see and do and the people are really nice and even though they get a lot of tourists they still maintain a courtesy that is good.  We stayed in Cairo for four days and took tours to the Pyramids and the Cairo Museum  ( King Tut etc)  and then flew down to Luxor to the Valley of the Kings and a short trip on the Nile R.  and to Aswan to see this huge dam.  We stayed there for three days and then went back to Cairo and surrounding areas for more tours.  It is a little dangerous for women alone so always have a tour guide.  Make reservations at hotels ahead of time to ensure  they have space at reasonable prices.  It is a trip of a lifetime and you will never regret it.  One thing is watch what you eat.  Its like Mexico in that sense.  They have this virus called King Tut's revenge and it sneaks up on you.  If you stay away from anything that is washed in local water, like salads and fresh greens then you should be ok.  Fruit with skin on it is fine .  Have a ball.

  4. Megan,

I am Egyptian living in Cairo. As for the flight, i would recommend checking Egypt Air's rates, they are usually lower than other airlines. For a suggested program for your Egypt's stay, it depends on the time of the year you will be here on. Best time is October/September and of course many like to have the new year's eve here! I would suggest three/four days in Cairo: See the pyramids/sphinx, take a felucca (small boat) on the Nile, visit the Egyptian Museum and the nice authentic Khan El Khalili (oriental historic district with ancient buildings and shopping for souvenirs).

You can then go to Sharm El Sheikh/Hurghada/El Gouna/Taba for relaxation, great diving and snorkeling and great sea and nature views, maybe for another 4-5 days.

If you have more time, you can try the Aswan/Luxor for magnificent pharaonic experience and lots of sightseeing, also maybe for 4-5 days!

Egypt is very diverse and I can go on forever about the many places you can go to! you can get the culture, the history, the relaxation all in one.

As for costs, it all depends, Egypt has both expensive hotels and affordable budget accomodation. also for transortation, almost any place you can go to by flight or bus/train depending on your budget i.e. Cairo to Hurghada/Gouna/Taba retrun bus ticket (6 hours each way) costs around LE 100-150 (USD 30)

As many other visitors noted, I would recommend that you negotiate the rates given to you when shopping at bazars for souvenirs, as well as for regular taxi fares because they are not metered. You should try to get what they offer you for 1/3 the prices suggested to you, and can sometimes go to 1/2, even though the price will give you will most probably be affordable for you! (Egypt is considered very cheap/affordable by western standards).

Wish you a great holidy and please contact me if you need further info!

  5. I will tell you, maybe only the plane and the hotel (if u stay at a hotel) will be expensive.

    The rest, everyhting is cheap.

  6. I think its like a over $2,000 last time i went it was that much. I don't remember how much I spent when I visited but their stuff is pretty cheap so it wasn't much. I stayed there 2 months and a 1/2

  7. I just bought a ticket for $1200, the tour i'm going on is another $1100 - that's for 9 days, most food included.  You might be able to do it for cheaper, but as a woman i didn't really feel safe going without a tour.

  8. i am egyptian ,everything in egypt is cheap ,you will pay  much money for the plane only
