  1. As of 2008:

    1) A ticket to Wacken Open Air is 99 EUR ($159.84 Canadian Dollars)

    2) Flights from Toronto to Berlin/Hamburg, from Flight Centre, start at $1,200 Canadian Dollars

There are other expenses to consider and they will vary depending on what you choose to do:

    - To get from Berlin/Hamburg to Wacken, you can take a train or a bus. The Wacken website can help you organise a seat on the shuttle bus, once the 2009 site is launched. Alternatively, trains are inexpensive, fast and reliable. For example, a train ticket from Berlin to Itzehoe (the main town leading to Wacken) is about 50 EUR ($80.73 Canadian Dollars). From Itzehoe, a regular shuttle bus takes metalheads up to the Wacken campsite; return trips are 7 EUR ($11.30 Canadian Dollars).

    - A lot of people bring their own beer and food. That's up to you; there's no shortage of refreshments at Wacken, although drinks can be overpriced (typical small beer is 4 EUR/6 Canadian Dollars). Large burgers, kebabs, baguettes, etc are usually 5 EUR ($8 Canadian Dollars).

    - If you don't already own a tent and camping supplies, you'll need to buy them, unless you plan to stay in a hotel in Itzehoe (this is not as unrealistic as some people might think, it's what I did and I just took the shuttle bus back and forth from the festival). If you're thinking about a hotel, plan to book 6 months in advance and expect to pay at least 70 EUR per night ($113 Canadian Dollars).

So you're looking at $1,500 Canadian at the bare minimum.
