  1. It will be interesting to see you put a V8 into a Cavalier. It would be a lot easier to just buy a Mustang GT.

  2. Cavalier is already a POS and you've figured out a way to make it even worse.  If you want to power your Cavalier using Ford technology, the next time it breaks down ask for a Ford tow truck.  Cavaliers are great cars, they keep GM mechanics out of the unemployment lines.

  3. I've gone through the similiar thing -- still a little bit painful, here is the resource help me out.http://car-insurance.bestips.info/car-in...

  4. a lot: cavalier is made by chevrolet, mustang is made by ford. it would take a lot of work and you would have to change more than the eng

  5. You're talking about putting a V8 from a rear wheel drive Ford into a front wheel drive GM. Assuming that you would convert the Cavi into a rear drive car, there is the question of how the rest of the car is going to handle 300+ horsepower in a car that, at best, ran 175 horses. Major body modifications are needed to get a longitudinal transmission, rear differential, etc. into it. Your other option might be to go with a front wheel drive Lincoln transaxle, but I don't think the Cavalier has enough room in front for that, and keeping that much power to the ground on a little car like that is going to be tough, not to mention the steering and suspension mods you will have to do.

Why not turbocharge the Cavalier 4 banger (or is it a V6?) Much cheaper and easier.

  6. Cavalier is a front wheel drive car, its going to be interesting how you plan to mate the V-8 to the front wheel drive transaxle. Not to mention sort out all the electrical wiring harness issues. In the end the transmission or the drivetrain could not handle to extra power anyway.

  7. bad idea, you spend more than you can imagine just trying to adapt them.

I'm sure GM makes and engine with more HP that is compatible with the cavalier, but in the end, you'll be limited by the rest of the car. Just enjoy it, as is, then later down the road, when you are ready for neck snapping launches...BUY A BUICK..either a turbocharged Regal or Supercharges Regal GS

  8. It will cost you three times as much as the Cavalier is worth to match a Ford engine to a front wheel drive vehicle.  A complete waste of money and time and the fabrication to do this will cost you cubic $$$$$$$'s.  The POS Cavalier transmission will shred itself in no time, the half shaft's will break in no time, the front end will need major work to support the extra weight, brakes will need upgrading, radiator isn't big enough, unibody will twist itself out of shape.... etc  and your insurance rates will go sky high!
