How much does it cost to have your engine rebuilt?

I have a 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5 and I was just wondering how much a new engine or to rebuild my engine would cost? And which would be the best way to go?

If you want a auto shop to rebuild your engine, the labor will be very expensive, and you might as well buy a different car. But if you rebuilt it yourself, it could easily be done for a few hundred.

So my thoughts are if your not in love with the car, just get a different one.

new re-manufactured engine installed.....2500 to 2800 dollars...used out of a yard1400 to 1800 dollars........Japanese engine exchange (if there's one in your area)    1500 1800 dollars....rebuilding your engine is the same as buying a re manufactured one ...u will need your old engine as a core...this is a 1994 engine and chances are they will have to rebuild yours anyway.....as they don't have much call for this engine so i doubt they keep them in stock
