  1. It depends upon WHERE in Northern California you're talking about.

In the Bay Area (South of San Mateo) it typically can run anywhere from $500.00 for board on up.  Stanford's getting $1,000.00/mo.

I have a friend who boards at a small boarding facility in Woodside and she's paying about $500.00/mo or a little more now for a 12' x 12' stall and a 12' x 24' run.

  2. It mostly depends on who is doing it all for you. Our farrier shoes all three of our horses for only $140. Feed can vary. The type of feed we buy is $8 a bag and hay is about $200 for usually less than 100 bales. Board can be a couple hundred dollars.

  3. When i get a horse this is how much i will be paying and i live in northern california also

$250 per month for board and then (feed included)

70 for shots but that is for the whole year not just in a month

I think $70 for shoes every six weeks

Not sure about the vet checks and stuff

then you will need tack about $200 and higher for a saddle

$40 for a bridle and breast caller it depends

Up to $20 or so for a bit

    $10- $20 for a halter

$20 and up for boots depending on what sport you are doing

$20 and up for a good groominh kit

$5 and up for fly spray

probably a few more things needed but that will get you started

  4. Like someone else said, it really depends where you are. I'm looking to board in the Santa Rosa/Petaluma area and there is everything from 175-650+ a month for board. Feed is usually included in this but supplements aren't. So keep that in mind too. If you can find basic shoes for about $80 that's pretty good. You can usually get it discounted if your horse is on the same schedule as the rest of the barn. If you need special shoes though you could be looking at over $200 every 6 weeks or so.

Vet depends. It's worth finding a good trainer because they might be able to save you some money with the vet by helping you with little things (but there is still no replacing a good vet.)

Hope that helps. It's a pretty broad question so good luck!

  5. board is around $150-$300 per month

usually if you board it comes with feed so dont worry bout that.....i dont know the rest i live in arkansas but my cousin lives in cali and she pays 250 a month

  6. it should cost about $7000 a year for one horse
