it matters on your electric company, but for mine, it costs 1 cent a minute its on which is a good template for any electric company. so for 8 hours which is 480 minutes it costs a total of 48 cents. hope that helps your curiosity.

cost = 8 hrs x (elec cost) x (tv power consumption) / 1000

elec cost in $/ KwH

power consumption in watts

At 12 cents per KwH and a 150 watt TV it would be

8 x 0.12 x 150/1000 = 14.4 cents

i suppose it really depends on how new the t.v. set is, but i'm sure it's kind-of like a car  it cost more to shout it off and restart it then to leave it running, but idk.
