i don't know about Germany, but i remember paying 0,80 euros or so to send a postcard from Venice to D.C....from the Poste Italiano

Germany - 0.45 Euro inside Germany, 0.65 Euro in Europe and 1.00 Euro outside Europe (airmail).

Sending a letter in Italy and the European Union costs 0,41 euro (unless the weight does not exceed 20 grams), for other continents the stamp costs between 0,65 euro (North America) and 0,75 euro (Australia and New Zeland).
