  1. you could pick up a kit for a few bucks at a hobby shop and it should come with just about everything you need for the basics

  2. depends it can go to $100-$5,000

  3. If you're going to use it in a Scout-sanctioned Pinewood Derby race, your first step should be contacting the Pack, District or Council that is hosting the race for a copy of the rules.  In order to keep the competition fair, they may require the use of the official Boy Scouts of America Pinewood Derby car kit, and exclude those kits you can buy from a hobby or craft shop.  The BSA kit includes a set of rules or guidelines for the typical race, including maximum weight (typically 5 oz.), maximum car height and minimum ground clearance for the track, and so on.

To find the official BSA kit, try to locate your nearest Scout Council Service Center or "Scout Shop", which should have a good number of kits on hand.  Go the the BSA website and enter your zip code, and it will find the council nearest to you.  You can then click through to the council's site or you can call them to get the location of the shop.

If you don't have a council shop near you, you can order them directly from the BSA's online store, ScoutStuff.org.  They're currently $3.99.  You can also get accessories for the cars there.

  4. Go to Michael's they have the kits and use a coupon , so it would be less then $ 20 .00 ;)))
