How much does it cost to make diesel from coal?

I know that it's possible to make diesel from coal, and coal is going to last for the next 2000 years.

Does anybody know (with links), how much it would cost to produce a gallon of diesel from coal?

The cost is a little cheaper to make fuel from coal than oil, but the cost of mining coal is grater, thus overriding the terminal cost.

So two answers, yes and no. South Africa mad fuel from coal for many years, as they had an embargo set upon them during the Aparhtied (spelling?) years.

One cannot put a commercial cost per gallon on fuel made from coal just yet, as there is not the market that reports this cost; at least as far as I am aware.
