Question:

How much does it cost to marry in a Catholic church in England?

I know it probably depends on the city, size of church etc but an average idea would be helpful.

Is a donation also required? I've read between £100-£200 is the norm for this.

We would just like the wedding ceremony in the church, and the reception and evening do would take place in a hotel elsewhere.

Thank you!

  1. we paid a donation of what we could afford at the time, but yeah, it depends on the chapel, most priests will tell you what they expect if you ask

  2. It depends on the church and location, same as the US.  A NYC church wedding is going to be much more expensive than a rural church.

Also, the church may require you to decorate with flowers as well.

Check into any pre-marriage classes the church may require before the nuptials.

    Good luck!
