Monthly food, stuff for the cat like a lil bed, toiletries etc. What are all the expenses and what do they add up to in owning a cat?

  1. I've read its 360 a year. The most costly time is when you purchase the pet. Thats when you need all the bedding, toys, litter box e.t.c....

  2. i wouldnt purchase a bed for it. cats sleep anywhere they want and you'll probably be wasting your money if it doesnt want to sleep in the bed. depends on how many cats you have and how much an individual cat eats. we pay avg $30 a month for food for 2 cats. we get liter every few months.

  3. Food costs around $10-20 every 6-8 weeks. Cats love toys so average around $5-10 every 2 months or more. A cat tree is always handy, they range from $20-200.  The most expensive thing is litter, but if you only have one cat, litter should last a long time, especially the clumping kind. Cost around $5-12, depends on size.

Cats need vaccines including FELV, FIV and Rabies which can run from $70-100, depending on where you live.

  4. It depends on the cat.

I have one that we spend maybe $40 a YEAR on.

but he is also house broken (by choice, we didn't do this on purpose) and an indoor/outdoor cat.

we buy the largest bag of food we can, and only have to buy two bags a year. It's great.

  5. It varies depending on vet expenses, what type of food that you purchase, what litter you purchase; etc.

A vet is expensive so if your cat is sick often, make sure you have loads of mula saved up ($100+ depending on the cost).

  6. it causes a lot probbly 500 but it depends on the cat u buy really

  7. It costs a bit. Boxes of canned food are around 7 dollars, and my two cats go through 1 and a half of them each month. Big bags of litter are mayb 10 dollars, but yu probs need to buy those only every few months. If you take them to the vet, thats an additional expense, and you have to buy some toys which are around 2 or 3 dollars each. U dont have to buy a bed, cuz cats will sleep anywhere.

  8. 20 bucks a month for food and litter,,but they get yearly shots that cost around 20 also!!

  9. Ok i own to cats so i am well experienced on this one.I think we should start with the litter pan and litter .Go to a dollar store they got them for about 2 for the pan and 3 for the litter. Now a little bed or a box you decorate and make a bed out of one is cheap the other  you can spend  up to 50 bucks for a bed.I got a cute little  round fleece bed at wal mart for 15 bucks.I got them a couple of toys and that was about 6 dollars and now the food.If you feed dry about 6 per week wet is around 5 or 6 per week. i feed one can of wet food and keep dry out all the time and there water. Then theres the shots that was about 52 bucks for all of them but just a rabie was 7.They are loads of company and lot of fun.Good luck

  10. cat food : about $10

    litter : about $13

    bed: $10 or 15

it depends on if its indoor or outdoor

note: its prob. better to keep it inside if possible because it can get run over or lost. also is cheaper so you dont have to give them tick meds.

  11. LARGE CATS

food- large cat, maybe 25-35 dollars, with basic food like 9 lives.

litter- abour 25, and you have to change it about 1-2 times every two weeks, if this is th ONLY cat you have.

Shots- will need to go to the vet about every 6months, could range anywhere from 100 (for basics) or maybe all the way up to 600 (for larger treatments)

    KITTENS

food- about 20-25 dollars, for dry, if you have to give it milk it may be a little more

litter- for a kitten you would prally just need one large back of litter a mont, about 10 dollars, change it every 2 weeks

vet- get it "fixed" if you dont want kittens, especially if its a male cat, also will need to be seen often for about 1 year, maybe every 4 months, make sure there healty.

bedding and toys- (optional) about 50 dollars, for a good bed and a few nice toys, these will last for 1-3 years depending on condition

    HOPE IT HELPS!

  12. you don't need a bed for your cat, cats sleep everwhere and anywhere, they usually don't even use cat beds. but monthly costings aren't too bad, buy in bulk, so big bags of cat food/litter and you will be fine, it might be expensive at first if you have to get them their shots, but after that it will calm down and you will probably only be spending about $20-$30 every month and a half to two months.
