  1. it depends on the quality of what your getting (feed, vet, farrier...etc) as so with the saddles and bridle

  2. if u dont already know then u arent ready for a horse

  3. right now in California its 11$ a bale

    and 2 flakes a day

its expensive not including anything else

  4. well sometimes (depanding where u ride) the feed comes with the cost of the board and they do ti 4 u. farrier is every 6 months wich is about $100...vet is around $500 a visit. Usually once a year unless there is something rong with it. The vet will usually give it a check up check its hooves, mouth, and it's overall body. well, ill let u in on something i am looking for a saddle and bridle too..so i was looking and i found a website tht has a saddle, bridle,AND girth all for $175!! I'm sure getting tht one heres the site: www.saddleonline.com and then type in english saddles in the search box. hmm dont forget the saddle pad, bit, halter, leadrope, id get some flysray 2. Good luck with ur horse if u need anything holler!

  5. were i board my horse in california it is 250 a moth and that includes feed so 250 times 12 is 3,000 for board a year then my horse gets shoed every 8 weeks and that is about 70 dollars so shoeing for a year is 420 dollars a year and shots and wormers ext. i pay about 60 a year i think i am not positive on that one so that is at least 3,480 a year just for care not including vet cause i dont know my mom pays for that My board is also cheaper cause i ride western as for you english tack that could be easily another thousand dollars hope i helped

  6. $2000-$5000 per a year, depending on if your horse is being boarded or not, where you live, hay costs, if your horse needs supplements, how often you replace riding equipment, how often your horse needs to see the vet/farrier/equine dentist for annual check ups and emergencies, vaccinations, dewormers, and if you are also paying for horse showing or not.

If you're planning on getting a horse, you should be looking up all those things yourself.

  7. Try this site: http://www.alphahorse.com/cost-horse.htm...

    Good luck!

  8. well the horse itself is going to be like a ton of money, if you want a quality horse, it can be about ten thousand dollars. feed is a ton of money, because they eat a lot. a vet depends on the living condition of your horse. i live in rogers, arkansas, and horses up here need a lot of work. if you want a show bridal, that's easily ten thousand. but just for a regular saddle and bridal, good quality is anywhere between one hundred and three hundred. you'll also want to get your horses hooves trimmed, and that shouldn't be too expensive. you'll also need horse shampoo, and grooming supplies. and if you want your horse to look extra spiffy, you'll need cowboy's magic. you rub it in the the tail and mane and it makes it shiny and unknotted.

the cost per year all depends on what you get and the quality, but it's not cheap. at all.

  9. i used to ride horses and take care of them, the price to keep one is about $2000, beacuse not only do you have to pay for vet bills and all that, you have to hire someone to pull all the dangorous weeds out (some weeds can kill horses) unless u want to spend hours yourself walking around a paddock regularly pulling out weeds

  10. let me put it this way

    alot

    alot

    alot

    alot

    Does that help any

  11. The amount is something your seriously dont want to sit down and calculate its sickening. the first time i thought "yeah i wanna know how much friday costs me a year and multiply that by the five years i've had him" - at the time it was 5 years. I almost threw up when i saw the number with all the zero's following! depending on what hte cost of things are in canada depends on what it will cost im in usa and pa to be exact so i wont giv eyou estimates because i dont want to be wrong....but really dont add it up you'll be sick

  12. It actually depends on where you live. I pay $3 for a 60 to 70 lb square bail and $30 for 1000lb round in Mich. We have 10 horses at this time in our rescue and we spend around 700 to 1000 a month in hay alone. I would suggest that oyu do some research in your area. Some of it also depends on the breed and the age when it comes to feed bills.

  13. Grain would be around $360 per year

Hay would be around $480 per year

The vet will issue vaccines, addition to a twice yearly overal examination. Also there will be dental issues, and the vaccines will be coggins, rabbies, strangles, dewormer, and 5way shoot,(you can research theses later-but they are the basic coverage) This will cost you around $ 365 per year - but remember the dewormer is 1 time per month

Ferrier will cost around $675 per year, with new shoes every 6 weeks, and a trim when needed

And english saddle new is anywheres from $350-$4000+

And english bridle new is anywheres from $40-$100+

(hint: buying used is just as good, and cheaper!)

Also you might need supplements if the horse gets sick, is in special training, or older, but cross that bridge when you get to it!

It may seem like alot but it is worth it, and remeber you dont neccisarily need all these things like shoes, or special vaccines, (you do need the basics tho!) so it could be cheaper. I just gave you the round about, each horse and person has diferent needs, so each costs will vary.Good luck and hope you get a horse

    TOTAL ANNUALY (estimate) - $2330

dont forget your saddle pad, grooming tools, stirrups and irons, reins, halter, turnout and winter blankets, and any other item you want to spoil your horse with- and luckily these are a 1 time cost!!

  14. The costs of shavings vary from place to place. In LA right now, a 5 cubic yard bag of shavings runs $4.00 from the shavings company and can run as high as $7.00 in a tack store. You also need sand, decomposed granite and sweet lime to keep your stalls bedded correctly. The sand and dg you'll have to call and get pricing on.

    Then there's the additional costs:

Hay in CA right now is running $17.95/bale for 3 strand alfafa which weighs 100LBs plus. Oat hay, runs a couple of bucks cheaper. Margarita, must be getting light grass hay 'cause I sure haven't seen it for $11.00/bale since '05.  Your horse will need between 5 and 7.5 bales a month, depending upon how easy a keeper your new horse is.

Shoeing (Which can run anywhere from $50.00 for just shoes in the front and barefoot in the back on up.) Done about every 6 to 8 weeks.

Trims: About $35.00 Once again done every 6 to 8 weeks.

Grain: Depending upon how easy a keeper your horse is, a bag of grain will run you about $15.00, once a month and bran about the same price wise, but it will last you for probably 3 mos or so, feeding about a 1/2 of a 3 LB coffee can twice a week.

Vet: Now normally without any accidents, once, twice a year for shots which run $40.00 per shot and the 'call charge' which can range depending upon your area from $40.00 all the way up to $250.00!

Tack: A good used saddle will run about $500.00 (Stubben, Kieffer, Passier, all purpose, for close contact, they are cheaper.)  A good new hunt bridle should run about $150.00.  You're also gong to need brushes, bucket, hoof pick, mane and tail brush, fly spray and a saddle pad (About $30.00-$50.00 depending.)

Shopping on ebay for horsey things:  This is the one that not only can get expensive, BUT addicting! You see something that your horse just MUST have! DO NOT go to ebay! This can be VERY costly and addicting, trust me on this I have a friend who's still paying off credit cards from ebay horsey things she bought.

Having someone trailer or haul your horse with the cost of gas would probably be $2.00/mile nowadays...

Okay, now you have your catagories, work up a spreadsheet for your area and then see if you can afford to own a horse.

  15. You were wanting prices for Ontario, Canada, correct...or Calif?  This will give you an idea of what the hay prices are just about every where:     http://www.equine.com/Products-For-Sale/...

Keep in mind, everything depends on the facilities that you already have.  You may have pasture available which makes a big difference.  I would suggest that you talk to someone locally, enter in what facilities or advantages that you already have and you might be surprised at how economical that you can keep a horse and keep him well.  It doesn't mean that you have to cut corners when it comes to your horse's welfare, but if you make use of your existing resources, you might just be surprised.
