Question:

How much does it cost to park curbside in San Francisco? ?

I'm trying to figure out if its worth searching for a curbside parking spot in Downtown SF and how much it would cost at a coin-operated parking spot per hour. Does anyone know how much the coin operated curbside parking is near 5th and Market? Do you know what hours the coin operated parking covers? Is it free after 6 pm or something like that? Please don't bother answering with comments about taking BART or the Train, because I have constraints that over-rule those options. I do know that the 5th and Mission garage charges around $3 an hour, so I'm trying to compare that with the street parking.

Thank You.

  1. Definitely do the garage.  They keep raising the price of street parking, and most places around downtown it's 25 cents for 6 minutes.  Plus, be aware of no parking hours.  You will be towed.  The ticket for going overtime is up to $60 now.  Parking after 6 is free.

  2. Downtown the meters are $3/hr. Around downtown and at the wharf they are $2.50/hr and everywhere else they are $1.50/hr. You won't save anything parking on the street and it will probably be more convenient to park in the garage rather than driving around looking for an open spot.
