The roof sheets are badly rusted and it's about 5 X 12 metres. It's a flat roof.

  1. You won't find an exact price because it depends on how it's done - what I'll guess that you may want to replace the existing with a corrugated arrangement - in which case the sheets have coverage of 762mm wide generally and depending on who the supplier is will come in lengths of 1.2m minimum (most suppliers have this as a min - though you can get shorter) to whatever lengths their manufacturer is capable of - some should be able to cover your 5m length - though you may incur a surcharge to cut to your specific length as most lengths come in increments of 300mm

You may look at around $10-20 per lineal metre though I can't be sure on that price I would guesstimate that you may pay between $800 to $1600 for the roofing by itself.

Then on top of that you'll need to purchase screws for fixing it down - you may wish to purchase poly-fibre roofing to allow light in.

Also considering guttering/spouting - are the roof battens timber? will they need replacing due to rot? what about the rest of the timber...?

There's quite a few variables you may need to consider aside from just the roofing itself .

If you do it yourself, I'd expect to pay around $1200 - $2000 in materials maybe a little less if everything aside from the rusted roofing is in respectable condition - if you have a roofing plumber do it - which technically it should be done by a licensed professional, I would put that figure at maybe $2500 - $3500

Not hard numbers - just rough amounts - but I hope it helps...

  2. Depends on where you reside. In Australia we do the job ourselves so all you are up for are the materials.
