  1. It all depends on what type of wheel you want to replace it with. It looks like the Haro Z1 (2008) has a rim laced to a standard freewheel hub. The freewheel is the part on you hub with the 16 teeth that your chain wraps around, I believe that that is the part you are talking about when you said "can i take off the sprocket on the broken rim, and put it on the new rim." Other options besides the standard hub, is using a flip flop hub, which allows you to run as low as a 13 tooth freewheel, which would allow you to put a smaller sprocket, often a 36 tooth in the front. This would lighten up your bike a little bit from your current 42 tooth. Other option besides getting a wheel with a hub that uses a freewheel, would be a cassette hub, basically the industry standard these days. A cassette hub allows you to run drivers in many different sizes. Cassettes are much more durable and give you many more gear ratio options as opposed to the freewheel hubs, but cost alot more. You best bet would be to take a visit to you local bike shop, and see what they have for options. Tell them how much money you intend to spend, and they should hook you up.

Hope this helps (and isn't to confusing, this subject often tends to be depending on your bike knowledge)

  2. if you want a rim that last get a demoliton zero sealed. the size of the flywheel depends on the size of your chain wheel. you cant fix yours its too messed up. the demoliton back wheel is around $150. its a high price but it will last. if you are not willing to spend that much get a stock one from a bike shop.

  3. There's a Redline XCD500 ($99.83) at Best Bike Zone ( 1-877-944-2453) and try EBAY (Sporting goods category-CYCLING-Mt. bike Parts) for rear specific rims for a low price----

  4. Ask the local bike shop.
