  1. The airbags in my Explorer, which were just replaced about a month ago after an accident with deployment, cost about $1100 each. Both deployed...I do not...at any time...disconnect or "turn off" the passenger airbag in my Explorer. I was alone in the vehicle.

Yes, new airbags are required. They can't be reset...once they have deployed, they are removed completely (the whole assembly) and new ones installed. It should only be done by a professional.

Please note...the same goes for seatbelts. If you are in an accident during which the seatbelt restrained you (with or without airbag deployment), it also needs to be replaced. A seatbelt should never be put to the test against another accident...it may not work properly, leaving you seriously injured or dead.

  2. the part alone is usually very epensive. over 200 easy, and up to 1500.  the labor is usually only about 1-2 hrs.

    all depends on the car

  3. This is something that cannot really be answered correctly if the vehicle was involved in an accident because you just cannot replace the airbag, you will have to check the complete airbag circuit system to make sure that the sensors and the wire harness are not damaged but to give you a rough price, between $400.00 to $3500.00.

  4. Depends on what make / model car -- some Chrysler vehicles are as cheap as $300 while an older Benz SL is over $4,500. There are used bags being sold out there -- try: www.car-part.com
