How much does it cost to replace the backlight of a pc?

I have an Xp laptop and apparently the backlight has failed. I hear it's an expensive repair. Just how much though?? And no, I'm not going to throw it out and buy a new one.

It will depend a lot on the make, but try googling "laptop backlight replace"...

The site below was the first I found.  Figure on about £100 to have it done, or less if you fancy doing it yourself. I would do it myself, but then I'm mad....

About $200 for going into the shop and effectively replace the entire LCD cover. You might as well just buy a desktop LCD and hook it as external if you are contend to just domesticate the laptop to your office or home office or wherever.
