I'm looking for just a ballpark figure here, I know there are many factors that will affect the price. These details may help.

In California (red tape warning)

I'm guessing about 50 ft. of pipe or less

We do have a crawlspace under the house

The new stove would sit against an interior wall of the house

We do have a gas line running to the kitchen already, but it's going to the furnace, which is about 7 feet from where the stove will be - I've been told that tapping into that line would not be good because I wouldn't get enough gas to the stove if the furnace was on.

The furnace and water heater are the only other gas appliances in the house.

  1. Your going to need a licensed and insured plumber who normally will just charge per visit $1,100.00 (NYC price). Then the cost of supplies, the time and labor cost at least another $2,200. Plus you need to pull permits from the building department, depending on who pulls the permits for you, the plumber or the expeditor he/she hires could be any where from $250-$900. Good luck with your project, hope I was helpful!

  2. If you can find a really good handyman who can run black pipe, (I'm assuming you have natural gas), he can tap into the line already in the kitchen going to the furnace, with no problem.   There's plenty of pressue in the line to keep the necessary amount of gas flow to both the furnace and the range at the same time.   That means you should only need about 10 - 12 ft. of black pipe, or PEX if he can run that, a tee, a valve and the flex line to go to the range, plus labor.  Here in SW lower MI we could do that job for  under $500, no permit needed.
