Aproximately how muc would it cost per month to run my window ac 24 hours a day at 70 degrees if it uses 970 watts and Iive in long island NY

You really have to look at your own electric bill to see how much you pay per kilowatt hour. It's probably between $0.08/kwh and $0.20/kwh. It might depend on the time of day; some utility companies charge more during peak usage hours, which is just when you need your a.c. the most.

.97 kw x 24 hr/day x 30 day/mo = 698.4 kwh/mo. So it costs about 700 times the rate per kwh.

Little J seems to think there are 27 hours in a day, and only one day in a month.

calculate the watt hour and then multiply with electricity rate in your place. the data you gave gives watt hour 26,190. In most countries electricity supply company use kilo watt hour as 1 unit of electricity usage. For your case it is then 26.19 units. Now if the unit price is say 10 cents then daily electricity charge would be 2.619 Dollars ....
