  1. Maria, you are so much of a ******.

People may have pets you don't care for, but watch your own pet die because no one would help you.

    Go F*ck yourself.

  2. but seriously do vets take care of rats? what about turantulas, could you take your turantula to the vet?

  3. Call th vet and find out how much it will cost

  4. Costs me for a healthcheck approx £5.00, if treatment or medcine is needed then its more....

  5. Well--  Um, *ignores the two fighting girls*

A lot, really.  Sadly, it wouldn't be cheap to just have a check up.

To help you out a little, try looking for Exotic Vets in your area.  Rats fall into that category.  ^^

Secondly, give them a call and ask.  Different vets charge differently, but to give you an idea, mine costs $40 for an office visit.

Now here comes the evil part.  Medicine.  Should your rat require medical attention, I would have a hundred dollars saved up AT LEAST.  I took a hamster to the vet once and had the medicine costing $80.

Most commonly, rats need low doses of steroids given to them via a shot to cure their illnesses.  You can easily research how much those cost, ask the vet, or ask Yahoo!  Answers what they have paid in the past.  I, personally, don't know, but I don't expect it to be cheap.

  6. Call a couple of local vets and ask them.  If you're short of funds, let them know.  You could tell the vet you'll volunteer there, to work off your pet's bill.  You could clean cages, walk dogs, etc.  That may help your cause.

Sometimes the local animal shelter may have a vet that will work for less.

Please take the poor little thing in, if it's ill.  If you don't have the money to care for pets, please don't get them in the first place.  They're expensive to take care of.

  7. This depends on the vet.

Visits can be anywhere from 10-60 dollars, depending on your vet. So you should call them and ask about their rates for office visits. Medicine can be anywhere. I would have at least $100-$150 dollars to spare just in case your rat needs more meds than you need to. My rat needed a dose of Revolution for mites, which only cost 14 dollars, and some antibiotics which were about 20 dollars. Not bankbreaking, but you need to check with your own vet to be sure.

Good for you for caring enough about your pet rat to take him to the vet. Lots of people aren't that caring.
