How much does it cost to turn the water on?

So I was thinking about turning the water on and off during the shower. I'd turn it off while lathering up and then turn it on to wash it off. I figured I will be turning water on and off twice during 10 minute shower. Which saves more? By running the water or by turning off and turning the water on again, twice?

  1. you are describing a "military shower",it is more cost efficicient to  get wet, turn the water off then lather up then turn it back on to wash off,but not if you are going to stand under it for 10 minutes, its pointless.

jenny, your idea makes no sense, you STILL have to turn the water on to fill the bucket.

  2. why don't you get a bucket and fill it up and wash yourself, i do that saves me ALOT of money, and i turn on water on once and off once.
