How much does it hurt to get your tongue pierced?

I'm going to get it done later on, and I want to know how much it hurts when it's actually happening, afterwards, and for how long. Also, I want to hear it for someone who has it done already, since they're already or are still going through the experience. Thanks.

  1. It does hurt a lot I have had many piercings my tongue hurt the most besides the nipples it doesn't feel like a pinch like most people would say it just hurts while your getting it done which is fast but it stings and after that is will be sore and you can't eat much eat ice to reduce swelling and don't play with it too fast because I played with mine the next day and it got torn but its worth it I love my tongue ring

  2. not too much.

but it hurts like a ***** once it starts to heal.

  3. Why are willing to do that?  Piercing your tongue opens a door to oral infections as wells as spending a whole lot more money on dental bills.

  4. ive had mine done for a year. basically its like a hot knife threw butter. its really fast. my legs were shakinnnggggg when i went with my friend. i asked the piercer about 80 questions lol. just sit there, shut your eyes & DONT move your tongue..the last thing you need is him slipping & hitting a vein. when he stuck the needle from the bottom up it almost felt stuck, like it wouldnt go through, so i opened my eyes & it was done! nothing bad. it sucks eating for the next week, you feel like your swallowing your own tongue. but once its all healed its totally worth it!!! i suggest doing it. it looks s**y too

  5. I have mine - have had it for 9 years. It doesn't hurt at all.  It's really a mind over matter thing and your mouth heals the fastest so it heals really quick.  The first day you may talk funny because your tounge does swell some, but nothing to freak out about.  It's totally worth it.  I don't know how old you are, but I'm 30 and my husband just loves it.  I almost took it out a few weeks ago (getting older ya know) and my hubby was begging me not to.  The only suck about it, it chips your teeth.  I've chipped SO MANY teeth because of it.  I have a great dental plan so It's okay, but if you have no insurance, you may want to think twice.

But pain during, after - none at all.

  6. Your tongue is basically all muscle, so it's piercing the muscle.

It'll hurt ALOT, and it'll swell up afterwards.

My friend had it done once and had to have it taken out because the tongue was swelling up so bad she was having trouble breathing.

  7. Why don't you just grit your teeth and find out for yourself.

everyone has different pain thresholds, so everyone is different, and react to pain differently.

  8. Not very much.  It's more that you feel the needle going through, but the pain at the time of piercing is very minimal.
