  1. $900 per month

  2. If you already know the agency that you want to go through, ask them.  That is where you will get the most accurate information.  As a foster parent, I realize that people think we do it for the money, but as anyone who has fostered or anyone who knows someone that has fostered, the money is not really extra income.  Since you have family that has fostered, I'm sure you know that.  Good luck.  There are a lot of children that need good, loving foster homes!

  3. If your only concern is making money then please be kind to the children and don't do this. It's not about making money. It's about helping someone  who needs love. The money shouldn't even be an issue for you.

  4. It depends on which county the child is from and the type of child you take.  First, every county has a different amount they can afford to pay out.  Second, each child that goes into foster care is given a rating based on the level of care they need and the difficulty of placing them.  Healthy newborns are level 1 care, the level goes up with age and difficulties.  If in your heart you are doing this for the right reason don't let mean people get you down, there is nothing wrong with being curious about things you don't know.  Becoming a foster parent is a wonderful thing, thank you for wanting to help these children.  Good luck!

  5. Wow, I knew all along people do it for money. I was a foster

child for 9 years. I HATED it! I believe it made my life suck, in more ways than one. I got put with people who had their own problems, alcohol, and all kinds of crazyness. Fostering a child isn't easy, you'll have to go though all kinds of classes, counseling and other things, people will be in your life business constantly. As I believe they have every right to be. " Just wondering how much it costs, says your in it for the MONEY! Get a job, take care of your self.

  6. People tend to get judgmental on Y/A!

I can only speak from South Dakota, my husband and I are foster parents in SD.  We are paid $14.98 a day per child.  From my personal opinion, that really doesn't cut it, but at the same time we are here for the children...not for the money.  I believe that rate is for healthy children birth through 12.  I believe that 13-18 rate is $21.something.

There are also higher rates for special needs children.  Although, many states are very leary on deaming a child special needs.  The little boy I have in my care at the moment really should be consisdered special needs, in July alone we had 32 doctors appoinments and our gas bill for the month was higher than the check that we received!  But our social worker is "working" on it.

I commend you for wanting to be a foster parent...just to warn you though...the first child that came into our home became available for adoption and we couldn't let him go!

    Congrats on the wedding also!

  7. I understand why you are "yelling" at these people, because if they actually understand "how much" money we actually get and what that has to cover it's not much.  I don't know about the state that you live in, but we get 234 dollars a month per child and that has to cover transportation / food / clothing / extra curricular activities / bedding / school supplies / diapers / baby food / car seats  / high chairs...ect.  What the outside world needs to realize is that when these children are "pulled" from their homes for whatever reason the parents aren't too cooperative in sending the children with anything other than what is on their backs at the time, nor do they give info on allergies / type of milk the baby is on...etc.  Kudos to you for doing it...we did it to help children also, and now will possiblity have the option to adopt the two we currently have.
