I work at a clinic - our cost is $113 if the pet is up to date on vaccinations.  That does not include presurgical bloodwork to check kidney and liver function which the anesthesia runs through.  The bloodwork is optional and costs about $50 for young animals.  We also offer pain medication which is optional which is an additional $10-20.

ProPlan offers some $25 certificates that can be used at your vet clinic for anything if you purchase their food.  Call around and check local clinics.  I work at a clinic that's in the country, but still close to a metroplitan area (about 30 minutes).  The clinics that are closer the the metro area are more than double our price.  Sometimes it's worth while to travel to see the vet.
