  1. You won't be able to do ECOT.  It is only for students in Ohio.  Check with the Oregon Department of Education to see what online schools they recommend and are accepted in Oregon.

If you choose a public online school, it shouldn't cost you more than a regular school would - paper, pencils, ink, etc.

Your teachers will post the assignments on the computer and you will complete and submit the work there.   You must be diligent about working without supervision and constant reminders to turn in homework.  You need to make sure that you do the work as soon as it is posted and don't fall behind.

  2. I don't know about eCot, but there is a school called Connections Academy, it is a virtual public school, which means it is a free school. They send you the books and most of the time a computer too, plus in most states if you qualify they pay for all or part of your Internet bill.

You have a teacher that you can e-mail or call with questions, my kids' teachers call every two weeks to check in. There is certain assignments that are portfolio items that you do, save and mail in ever 6 weeks of so, to be graded. Plus there is quizzes and test that you do on-line that are graded. It is something for you and your parent(s) to check into because you will need a learning coach; parent, grandparent, or other trusted adult, to help you out through the day. I hope this helps

  3. there are some that are free and others that charge a tuition. I have found 2 in Oregon that are free

    Oregon Virtual Academy

    Oregon Connections Academy

Oregon Virtual Academy is k-8 but Connections Academy is k-12 so that would be your best bet if you are staying more than one year. There are some programs that are affordable that charge a monthly fee like Progress Academy and CLASS

  4. I would highly recommend that you look into ORVA.  They may add high school next year.

The only cost will be the typical public school fees for your area/local B&M school.

Virtual schools are online.  You do most of the work on a computer and submit your work to your teachers electronically.  Your parent will act as your mentor and coach, but you'll have certified teachers from the school.

    Here is ORVA's site:

I recommend you attend a virtual or in-person (meet & greet) open house session with your parents to get answers to your questions.

  5. I have been saving for my son's education and it was a little over $1000 which includes DVDs with real teachers.  This is for an entire school year
