How much does pasta pomodoro pay to be a hostess?

I am 16 yrs old and i have a job interview this weekend at pasta pomodoro, (italian restaurant). I don't know what is an appropriate pay to be a hostess. This location is in San Jose, California.

Minimum wage here is $8/hr.

Well SF is $9.36/hr (minimum wage) and since you're 16 and the minimum wage there is $8/hr I think they will probably give you that.  Don't be afraid to ask for more, they can't do nothing but lower what you write anyway.  If they ask you say you want $10 and work from there.  I have a feeling it's going to be $8/hr because hostess get tips.  Good luck on your interview and remember don't be afraid to ask for more $$$/hr it doesn't hurt.

My guess is that the job will start at minimum wage.  It sounds like a good job for a sixteen year old girl.  Good luck.

Make sure the position is for a hostess and not a waitress position.  In my experience, I have found that many restaurants don't differentiate between the two. Having no previous experience, you most likely will be paid the minimum wage for the hostess position. If it is a waitress position, you can expect to paid much less than the minimum wage because you are expected to make the majority of your money in gratuities(tips).
