  1. Depends on what the listing agreement says. Traditionally, the Broker that is representing the seller will get 6% of the sale price.

    Then if there is an additional broker involved, they will split the commission - so now its down to 3%.

    Then, if a realtor was the one that actually sold the house, the broker will give the realtor a percentage of the commission (usually after the realtor has paid their realtor dues, office lease, license fees, etc. first).

  3. On average, for a Single Family Home (most townhomes and condos too), an agent will make 2.5% to 3% of the purchase price.  Generally commission is higher on land deals and mobile homes, but that's because the value of the properties are lower.
