  1. Metro Transit charges different fares depending on how far you're going, and whether you are traveling during peak, or off-peak times.

Peak commuting hours are weekdays (M-F) from 6-9 am and then again in the afternoon from 3-6 pm. Fares on based on a bus' scheduled times, and not its actual times, so if the 5:50 bus  picks you up at 6:05, you would still pay "peak" rates.

As for "zones" - any travel that begins and ends within the city of Seattle is considered travel within a "single" zone, while a trip that begins in Seattle but travels into King County (or vice versa) is considered a two-zone trip.

There is also a "Youth" fare for ages 6 to 17 - riders who qualify for the youth fare pay the same fare at all times, regardless of zones or time of day.

Youth fare: 50 cents cash fare per trip.

One or two zone - off-peak: $1.50 per trip.

One Zone - peak fare: $1.75 per trip.

Two Zone - peak fare: $2.00 per trip.

Reduced rates are available with a variety of passes and ticket book purchases.

I've linked to the full info at the Metro Transit site below.

    I hope this helps!
