  1. A one week travelcard for zones 1 & 2 costs £25.20.

    Got one on Tuesday.

  2. It depends how many zones you travel and what time.

Peak is double price before 9am

Off Peak is cheaper after 9am

The main tourist areas is the center of London zone 1

Day Travel card off peak 9am - 12 am

    £2 /$3.93 Child Under 16 Zones 1,2,3,4,5 & 6

    £4 /$7.86 Adult over 16 Zones 2,3,4

    £5.90 /$11.59 Adult over 16 Zones 1,2,3,4

    £7.80 / $15.32 Adult over 16 Zones 1,2,3,4,5 & 6

Day Travel card peak 4am - 12 am

    £4 / $7.86 Child Under 16 Zones 1,2,3,4,5 & 6

    £8 / $15.72 Adult over 16 Zones 2,3,4

    £11.80 / $23.18 Adult over 16 Zones 1,2,3,4

    £15.6 / $30.65 Adult over 16 Zones 1,2,3,4,5 & 6

To make sure double check in a local shop in London.

  3. It's not a simple system I'm afraid. Travelling on the tube (undergound) is split into several zones which changes the price that you pay for a ticket and then you also have off-peak and peak prices! So I can't just give you a set price for a single journey as it depends where you're going and what time!

But getting an oyster card is the best thing to do as it is cheaper. For example a single fare with an oyster card is £1.50 but without an oyster card it's £4. An oyster card is basically a little card (costs about £2) that you 'add' money to either online, at certain shops or at tube stations. When you go through the gates all you have to do is scan the card on a reader and you walk on through and the fare is debited from the card.

Most of the places that you'll want to go to see things are in Zone 1 (central London) my advice if you are on a budget is to walk as much as you can. The tube map is deceptive and it would be actually much quicker to walk between places adn you get to see stuff. Have a look on a map before you get on the tube.

Hope that helps. Here's the link on the Transport for London website if I've not been clear -

    Enjoy London!

  4. dont pay for each journey seperately without an oyster card as cash fares are ridiculously expensive.

if you are staying for a full week i'd recommend getting a one week travelcard as that allows you to use the buses as well as the tube. if your staying for less than a week get one day travelcards for each day your there.

prices are here (scroll down quite a way to find travelcard prices):
