  1. The government pays nothing.

  2. 0$...they dont get paid anything for representing the U.S. in the olympics or for winning...its about the pridew of being in the games...however... michael phelps and usain bolt and other athletes that are unusually successful games will get endorsement deals for winning with all sorts of companies...also phelps got paid by speedo for each race he won...so its the companies that may pay due to success at the games but the U.S. gov doesnt pay the athletes to play for them... its 100% voluntary

  3. The USOC pays each Gold medal athlete $25,000

  4. Each gold medalist is paid $25,000 for each medal. I'm not sure what the silver or bronze medalist get though. In Michael Philps case, he'll receive a cool $200K for his superhuman efforts.

And to all the folks who say they get squat, do your homework. Every country in the world pays their athletes for medals. They and the US do it as an incentive for bragging rights.

EDIT*** OK, lets get technical. The Government doesn't pay the athletes, the USOC does. How is the USOC funded? Oh yeah, BY THE GOVERNMENT.

  5. $0.00

  6. Nothing

    Now go to my question

  7. Uh, actually, the US Government does not pay one dime to the USOC. It's all through private donations and other revenue.
