I just wanted to find out if being a truck driver is a good job, and plus whats a good company to work for?

  1. It all depends on what type of driving you want's to do.

    If you do over the road hauls, which is multiple day trips, you can make very good money.

    If you do only day trips you can make deciend money if you find a good company to work for.

    A lot also depends on how they pay, some companys pay per mile, and some by the hour.

    But either way it's long hours, and the chance of being away from home for a while. It's not for everyone.

    The average truck in the United States travels an average of 64,200 miles per year, the equivalent of driving almost two and a half times around the world.

    The average trip for trucks is about 420 miles one way.

    Stay away from places like Sysco Foods and Ryder - where you get paid by the trip - and not by the hour..........

  3. Min.wage or below.I had a friend spend money for trucking school.It took him 5 years earning sometimes $2.00 a hour before he found a local company.Never drive a semi up North in Yankee land,they jump on your truck break locks,or plain rob you.Stick to Interstates 10,20,40.
