  1. not nearly enough, I'm sure.  The one's I've known work extremely long hours and have to deal with many, many headaches.  The one's I've worked with have made in the 70's, and these are medium sized districts.  Of course, years of experience is taken into account, as well as education.

It all depends on the school system.  Larger school districts are going to have a larger budget so you would make more with them.  You can go on the districts website and some (but not all) will have a basic salary schedule for their teachers and you can get some sort of idea from that.  Most of the time you fill have to find out during interviews. You can go to yahoo career or job search and see what salary they list for the job,  But special ed is a high demand field so you could be able to get a sign on bonus as well
