Does the fact that we take in so much media in these days, which includes a vast majority of people, fictional or real, who are way better-looking, have way more money or have far more skills than you make you feel substantially worse? Do you even think the media has an effect on you?

Is it more important now than ever to spend a lot of time with your friends and family who might still give a d**n about you in order to have the desire to carry on living one day to the next?

  1. i think it would do harm for low self esteem only temporarily, but the damage is more on those people that are portrayed has all the luck of this world. See how many can't accept that they are aging, skin begins to sag, look for eternal youth formulas, have the money to but the best food in the world but can't find appetite, or but the best house but have no home?

  2. It threatens traditional cultures such as Armenian, Palestinian, Kurdish, Bedouin, Christian Lebanese, Greek, Macedonian, Illyrian (Albania and Kosovo) along with others.  This leads to a sense of anomie and displacement.  People are not given time to adjust to the modern world and this can encourage excessive traditionalism and conservatism.

  3. hiya readhead, you have made a good point there! however, those who wish to migrate und mix in with the "modern world" have made that decision themselves for various reasons.

they cannot expect "us" to assimilate with them, if they are not prepared to offer reciprocally so!

the media certainly play a role, as we now realise, more than ever, what is going on in their countries, they seem to be groups, that hate each other more than anything else, for reasons, that medevial or worse in origin.

we don't want and need such confrontations in our modern world, we have got other problems to solve!

they had these problems all along, not only since the British and American soldiers were/are stationed there, the British army failed in afghanistan donkey's years ago, to gain any control over the fundamentalist war-lords at the time, do we really think, that is going to worknow, as they have become milliardaires by selling poisenos drugs to our adolescents!?

they can brive anyone they like wit their dirty money!

and they are certainly not suffering from "low self-esteem",- rather from grandiosity,I gather!
