  1. depends on where you live & what is done to /on the cat

here in Nj it can run $200-$300. for check up & shots

  2. varies. call vet and ask.

before the first guy scares you, my cat just got hurt. exam, two days in the vet hospital, surgery, antibiotics, pain killers, she was due for shots so she got all those too, checked for worms.

    all for $400.00.

  3. It's hard to answer a question like this esp. since each area is different.

For shots or deworming, a cheap way to do this is go to www.luvmypet.com  to find locations in your area.  In San Francisco/Bay Area they have local clinics every weekend at different Petco's for fecal testings, dewormers, rabies shots, etc. (They should list everything they do on the website)  They do a variety of shots that ranges about $15+.  Sometimes they have packages for multiple shots for about $50.  They will also send you a notice when your cat needs their shots again.  Then you can take your pet to the vet for normal check ups, etc (which again can vary depending on where you live)

If you ever have an emergency (ie your cat eats a ball, has been attacked by animals, etc) and you need to go to an emergency hospital (usually the 24 hour ones).  That will cost you about $80-$100 just to visit and see whats wrong with your pet.  Then you have to pay additional depending on what needs to be fixed.  So that cost will vary.

Other than that, its hard to say that its going to cost this or that amount.  Good luck!

  4. If it is going to be an indoor cat and is healthy maybe nothing.  I've had many cats and they didn't cost me a dime.  I don't believe in all of those shots (vets will hate me) What did they do years ago before thouse shots came along.  I had a friend who had a cat for 22 yrs and never had a shot or became ill, Oh and never ever ate cat food only people food.  Good luck, keep us posted.

  5. Sorry, but we cannot tell you how much a vet appointment would cost. It highly depends on the vet, the location and what type of appointment it is (check up, shots, spay, etc). Prices vary greatly.

If you adopt a cat from a shelter or rescue group, chances are the cat has already been vet checked, vaccinated and spayed/neutered, which would cost you less for vet expenses at least for the time being, until another vet check is in order. But do not let this idea smoke out the possible costs of a vet, should the cat become seriously injured or fall ill.

  6. I was in the same predicament and I got a credit card I put all the cat stuff on. Each set of shots costs me 50 pounds (they need 3 sets in their first year), neutering is the same, 40-50, food is maybe 30 pounds a month. So I stick all that on the credit card and pay off the minimum amount or as much as I can afford each month. Problem sorted!

PS: i made sure I got a low interest one with 0% interest for the first 9 months btw.

  7. I think it would be £60-£100 but it depends on where you live and which vet you go to but the one im going will cost me £100 .... which aint good but ohh well

hope you do get a cat =]
