How much does this help with college admissions?

During my junior year of high school I did a foreign exchange program which allowed me to host a German student for 3 weeks and then I went to Germany and stayed there for 3 weeks.

Just was wondering if colleges look at this and how they feel about it.

Program was called GAPP by the way

  1. Doing activities like that will greatly increase your chances of getting into college. Schools look for people who stand out, who have interesting qualities about them, and so on. By participating in GAPP, you've greatly improved your chances of being accepted!

Other things to consider would be volunteer programs, foreign languages, extracurricular activities, and such. II was part of a choir in high school, which I think the admissions board found interesting.

    Good luck applying!

  2. It will be no help at a selective college, maybe a small help at average schools.

  3. It will help show a good level of activity during your summer months and your college will take notice.  Be sure to include your GAPP in the "Summer Experiences" or "Foreign Travel" section of your student resume.  When you list or discuss your GAPP experience, emphasize what you learned from the experience.  This will help you look like a mature young adult ready for the college experience.

  4. yep thatll help. pretty much any experience or position that separates you from joe schmoe will help
