I really do *not* want to study those majors, I can't force myself to like them. So if I'm not going into those careers then does my major matter? Can I major in something I actually love?

  1. alot

  2. If you don't want to major in business or law or medicine, that pretty much narrows your choices. It sounds like you will major in liberal arts or education. Remember, the purpose of getting a college degree is getting a job and producing a income.. Of course you can major in something you love, but you also have to be realistic and say "Can I find a job with this major?". Good luck!

  3. When I went and enrolled in college the paperwork asked a bunch of questions. One of those questions was what program would you like to get into? My answer is nursing because I have always wanted to be a nurse. Among the other questions was what will be your major? Well in the list they gave of possible answers it did not have nursing as a major, so I chose unsure. I thought that your major would be the program you wanted to get into for the profession of your choice! Now everything I get from the school says major: unsure. I am still taking all the classes needed for my program though so what is a major and what is it for? I don't really think a major matters unless like you are going to be a geneticist with a major in biology or something.

  4. For most jobs, they just want to see that you can go the distance; that you took it upon yourself to start and finish some form of higher education. They don't care where you went, they don't care what your GPA was, just that you did it. So it doesn't really matter, and honestly, in this day and age there are so many jobs that make more sense to train at a technical school rather than a university.

It's necessary to have the degree, but don't kill yourself over it.

  5. Always major in something you actually love. You'll find a job you'll be happy with. That's important.
