  1. Well, your metabolism slows down if you eat before you sleep because your inactive when you sleep which makes it harder to burn those calories or break down the food eaten = slow metabolism.

You could eat after six, its all on your schedule when you have breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Always have breakfast in the morning, its one of the most important meals of the day. People who have breakfast in the morning are less likely to be overweight because when you sleep and you haven't eaten for a long time you have a slow metabolism to conserve energy, but when you have breakfast and eat in the morning you get your metabolism going, and don't have to break down foods slower for energy.

  2. Not eating after 6 is total ********. You shouldn't starve yourself and need to feed yourself every 2 1/2 - 3 hours. I eat eggs and almonds at 10 o'clock and go to bed at 11, I've done this for the past months and have continued to lose weight.

People who say don't eat past 6pm are the same people who think starving yourself works.

I do think you should avoid carbs before going to bed though.

  3. You should definitely eat in the morning, you need breakfast to start you off for the day.  It is honestly the most important meal of the day.

Don't listen to the myth that is constantly being told, that, "eating after 7 p.m. makes you fat", or "eating before bed makes you fat".

That's a common myth. There's no valid, scientific evidence to prove it, and if anyone wants to try and prove me wrong, go ahead. The only correct recommendation is that your carbohydrate intake should be lower during the nighttime.

    Best of luck!

  4. your body has 3 sources for energy, food that has been converted into energy that resides in your bloodstream, fat, and muscles.

Your body slows uses less energy when your are sleeping (slowing of the metabolism) because you are not walking, standing, moving etc. Because of this eating a lot of food before you go to bed will cause a lot of "extra" energy to be left in your bloodstream as your metabolism slows down. This will cause it to be converted to fat.

Although 6 might be a bit early, the general rule is to not eat a big meal and then go to sleep as that will cause major fat gain.

Eating in the morning will make sure that all your food energy will be used throughout the day, so that you wont gain extra fat.

  5. You can effect your metabolism by how much and how often you eat.  If you want your metabolism to be really fast then eat small meals 4 or more times a day.  If you want to slow your metabolism eat big meals 2 or 3 times a day.  Try not to eat or drink liquor less than 3 hours before you go to bed.

It is true that you should have your biggest meal in the morning and your smallest in the evening.  Your metabolism is fastest in the morning and slowest when you are asleep.  There is no set amount that your metabolism slows at night but it can operate at less than 50% of normal.
