For instance, do you go to the the length of taking the plastic film off of a hollow chocolate bunny's container to be able to recycle the rest of the box? Paper towel and toilet rolls?

  1. I try and recycle everything that the local center will take.

    Some paper gets composted.

I even have a bag of glass for when/if they start accepting it, or if I find another close center.

  2. My family recycles paper, plastic, and metals.

Yes, if a box has a plastic film on it, then we'll take it off, and put the plastic in the "plastic" recycle, and the box in the "paper" recycle.

  3. I recycle all my Aluminum cans most plastics but not small bottle

  4. I recycle every thing I can.  I even do recycling for my synagogue.

  5. I sometimes go as far as taking corrugated cardboard from work to local dropoff sites, but I figured out that I can use Freecycle (another group with Yahoo) to advertise the boxes for people who are moving.  That way, I get other people to pick up the boxes, and they get used again by those who really need them.

I also take my chipboard (shiny flat cardboard not accepted by the folks who recycle corrugated cardboard) down to a local paper supply plant where they will accept and recycle it.  Both the paper supply plant and the dropoff site are near my gym, so it's not out of the way at all.

Otherwise, the rest of my recycling is pretty easy.  My work has recycling bins, so I can drop off some of my stuff there if I want.

  6. Michigan makes it easy to recylcle pop cans & bottles with the deposit, so 100% there. As for everything else I probably don't put forth more than 20% of the effort I could - milk jugs yes, cardboard yes even the tp roll, paper - only if it's sheets or magazines/newspapers, the plastic around the bunny no. It's a small step and I'm getting there - at the request of my cousins who are completely earth consious (thank goodness for the younger generation)

  7. Just my bottles, cans & plastics along with cardboerd. Other than that nothing else.

  8. I take the aluminum foil off some candy wrappers if I'm real board.    Nothing to do at home?   I take a walk along the road and collect aluminum and glass.

  9. 1-peel of the paper from frozen juice, pringles,Pillsbury rolls and others to get at the steel tops and bottoms

2-pull of the plastic see through on envelopes

3-pull out the hardboard liner in chocolate bars

4-go for a walk in the neighbourhood on recycling day and pick up all the recyclable materials laying around and put them into the box's as I go (drives my wife crazy)

5-keep a recycling box at work and bring home night before pick up at home and take back to office

  10. We are given gigantic recycling carts. Everything goes in there except yard waste, motor oil and that kind of thing, as well as take out food cartons.

My family has faithfully recycled for many years now, perhaps 15+.

  11. Yes I'm afraid i do, plus i always take the plastic windows out of my letters and the bubble wrap out of envelopes.

  12. None

  13. I'm proud to be an American and live in a country with a huge recycling program.  I try to recycle as much as possible.  I will sometimes do what you described, mostly with the toilet paper thing, but I will always wash containers out when they are dirty before putting them in the recycling bin. (Like ketchup bottles, etc.)

  14. do as much as you can  try not to be part of the problem but be part of the solution  set an example to those around you  talk about it  inform others  you can start a rippling effect
