Question:

How much electric energy might we save by turning the computer off after each use vs. leaving it on all day?

My boy friend and I have different opions about this. I say it doesn't burn that much, is better to leave the thing on and turn it off before bed, he says we might be using to much electricity.

  2. I don't know really, you could always test it out. I would think that it doesn't use that much but electric companies charge you just to have stuff plugged in, even if it isn't actually on. My mom tested that one and saves between $10 and $20 a month by unplugging things. I'm sure a running computer uses more than something that isn't on so, try it for a month n see!

  3. Well the computers have a "standby" mode, which saves energy after your computer has not been used in a certain amount of time. Or you could use the "hibernate" mode on the computer. this is pretty much the same as turning it off, except it is'nt actually turned off.
