How much electric. will I save if I reduce water use by 1 tonne? ie how it would reduce my carbon footprint?

  2. This depends on where your water comes from and how it gets to you.  

    --If you have a well that you pump water from, you can easily calculate the energy cost of 1 ton of water.

    --If your water utility uses pumps to get water to you, contact them and find out what their costs (public utitlites usually have this information available, commercial ones can be less helpful)

    --In some cases, your water might be fed to your tap completely by the force of gravity (if the water supply is uphill from the point of consumption).  In this case, you'd save no energy by not using the water, though there might be opportunity costs to this water- if you save it, it will be available to run through a power generating dam, etc.

    To all these, you must also add in any other costs, including treatment and sewerage.

    Simple question, complicated answer that you'd have to caluclate yourself based on local factors.
