My computer has a 600w Power Supply and an 8800GT 512MB.

I have two monitors, a 17" and a 22".

How much does my computer and each monitor cost to leave on for an hour?

BTW, I live in Mississauga, Ontario if that helps with the cost.

  1. I've visted there 7 years ago.. spooky.. eh?

how is lakeshore road these days? hehe

anyways.. depends on the monitors. if they are CRT's they use more energy than TFT's

anything with a heating element / cooling element is the thing that uses most power.. kettle.. iron .. dryer etc

hard to say since I'm a brit, dunno how much canadian power is.. they charge by the unit..

you could take a reading for 1 hour.. without the pc etc turned on.. minus 1 reading from the other..

the 1 hour with the pc on ..

    minus the start and finish..

then minus total 1 and total 2

if you see what i mean?

  2. $gazillion dollaz$

  3. i'm not sure but think about it this way:

you computers have enouph electricity to charge 17 in a 2 hour period,..........impressive......

  4. dont buy one if thats what your worried about

  5. Most computers offer a powersaver option. You may want to use it. Also sound and screen brightness use quite a bit so simply lower them Save the enviroment and your money!

  6. not much,  I wouldn't worry about it,  laptops are even cheaper

I leave my desktop computer on all day and all night,  always running and monitoring,  and I don't even notice a difference on the electric bill,  it might be $10 more per month,  but whatever it is,  It doesn't even bother me.
